About Dot Cox

Like most wedding and portrait photographers, Dot began by taking pictures for her family and friends and was happy to be reimbursed for the cost of films and processing.  Although Dot has been a serious photographer for more than 30 years, she was only able to devote part of her time to the craft.  Until recently, she was a career federal employee.  Known for her keen eye and ability to capture the moment, she was often asked to photograph major events for her organizations.  Starting in the 1970’s, she was fortunate to have “traveling” jobs, and traveled throughout the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Fuji Islands, Japan, England, Germany and Switzerland photographing extraordinary pictures and creating a lifetime of memories.  Dot is now able to work full time in her photography business.

She has perfected her own special style of capturing the moment on film. This style was developed from traditional schooling in photography, studying techniques of and apprenticing under nationally and internationally known photographers, and her own perfectionist intuitions.

You will find Dot a wonderful personal experience for any photography needs you may have at costs you can afford. Visit her in her studio to appreciate the talent and value of services you will receive.

Quotes from an interview done with Photographer Dot Cox

Interviewer:  “What made you decide to become a professional Photographer”?

Dot:     “Photography has been a major passion since my early teen years when I received my first camera from Santa.  Through the years that simple camera has been replaced with far more sophisticated equipment, but the joy of capturing special occasions, laughter and tears of family, friends, and even strangers, has continued.  As I traveled abroad and around our beautiful country, I tried to capture the beauty of nature and the wonders of various cultures using photographs as my canvas.  Photographs reflect moments in time that often cannot be repeated, therefore it’s important to record those moments exactly as they happen.  As a photographer, my goal is to preserve those moments as a lifetime keepsake for posterity.

A special friend commented to me one day as I was photographing her young son, "you smile the whole time you’re shooting!”  I wasn’t even aware of it, but that convinced me I was doing the right thing.  If you can smile the whole time you’re working, it isn’t work!”

Interviewer:       “What type of Photographer are you?”

Dot:     “That is a hard question for me to answer. I will tell you that most of my clients say they appreciate that I care enough about them to watch for little details so they look their best in their photographs.  And, that I captured the many special moments (some of which they had forgotten about in the hectic pace) of their wedding day."
